Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington in Ohio, left high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. Though she struggled financially, her 2001 debut was acting as Rachel's Room's main character. Following her win of a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her performance of Murder in Greenwich of 15 year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, Grace was able to win. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal role for two seasons, and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace wanted to focus on film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. She starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 and Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of these characters. Grace played Shannon's part in Lost for two more episodes, including the finale of the series. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season which ran from 2013 until 2014. She plays Faith a groupie and her muse to the stars who captures the attention of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family She is the child of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also was co-starring with her twin brother on Donnie Darko, a popular cult movie. The year 2002 saw her was featured as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received praise from critics for her lead performances in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama), and Sherrybaby (606), both of which garnered her Golden Globe Award nods. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006 such as World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In 2009, she received a nomination as the best supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mom as she appeared in Crazy Heart. After that, she went on to appear in comedy films and dramas like Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) as well as The Won't Back Down (12). Other roles she has played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) as well as musicians in Frank (2014 and drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to the role of the Kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal wrote and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The psychological drama won Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
